Life has been an incredible journey filled with highs, lows, and transformative lessons. From joining the military to pursuing higher education, becoming a teacher, transitioning into hairstyling, and eventually finding my way to yoga, every step has shaped who I am today. For over 35 years, I lived away from home, carving my path in the world. But everything changed when I made the decision to sell my “almost” dream home and return to care for my mom—a move that taught me just how precious life truly is.
Practicing yoga started as a way to release the stress of being an urban school administrator, but it became so much more. What began as a personal practice evolved into teaching, owning my own studio, and starting a yoga training school. Yoga gave me the tools to balance the weight of daily challenges, but it was my mother’s health journey that gave me a new perspective on self-care.
When her doctor called with news that shook me to my core, I knew I had to be there for her. My mom and I share a bond I cherish deeply, and I wanted to ensure she was safe, happy, and healthy. This experience shifted my understanding of self-care—it wasn’t just about physical wellness or personal survival anymore. It became about being fully present for those who need us most, and finding peace within myself to give from a place of abundance.
Through this journey, I’ve learned to pause, to appreciate life’s simple joys, and to embrace moments of serenity amid the chaos. I created Asaba Wellness to share this perspective with others—to help people find balance, discover deeper peace, and create a life that’s both prosperous and enjoyable.
“Asaba” means “I have chosen well” in Igbo, and that’s the heart of this collective: helping you choose yourself, your well-being, and your happiness. My mission is to provide spaces and experiences that empower you to take care of your mind, body, and spirit while fostering a community rooted in love and care.
No matter how busy life gets, there’s always time to find balance, to nurture yourself, and to build a life filled with meaning, connection, and joy. Asaba Wellness Retreat is my way of sharing this truth with you.
